WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (3-1) played their home opener and came away with a 3-1 victory over Keen State (2-2) on Tuesday night from the Kneller Gymnasium.
Clark opened with a 25-11 win in the first set, Keene State took the second set 25-18, Clark took the third set 25-13, and the final set 25-17 to come away with a 3-1 victory.
How it Happened
- Clark opened the match with a 6-1 lead, sparked by two kills from senior Camille Flurry and a service ace from graduate student Cameron Gill.
- After the Owls got back within five, Clark went on a 5-0 run sparked by a pair of kills from both junior Camille Sterling and Flurry off feeds from junior Yvanna Torres as the Cougars led 15-5.
- Sophomore Yumeng Liu ended the set with a pair of service aces and an assist over the team's final 10 points as Clark came away with a 25-11 win in the first set.
- The Owls took an early 7-2 lead in the second set before senior Sheyenne Williams recorded a kill to get the Cougars back within four.
- Down 13-6, Clark stormed back with a 5-0 run led by a service ace from first-year Julia Dopazo, a block from Williams, and a Flurry kill to make it 13-11.
- Gill registered a kill off a feed from Pastor to make it 16-13, but Keene State ended the set on a 9-5 run as they took the set 25-18.
- In the third set, Clark jumped out to an 8-3 lead sparked by a pair of Williams kills and Pastor before first-year Harper Chinn recorded a pair of service aces to take an 11-4 edge.
- Flurry recorded two more kills over Clark's next five points and a Dopazo service ace put the Cougars up 17-10 and after the Owls made it 20-13, the scarlet and white ended the set on a 5-0 run sparked by three team kills to win 25-13.
- In the fourth set, Clark jumped out to an 8-3 advantage led by kills from Flurry, Gill, Williams, and Pastor and after the Owls pulled to within one at 11-10, the Cougars scored three consecutive points capped off by another Dopazo service ace to take a 14-10 lead,
- Gill and Liu each recorded service aces later in the set as Clark led 19-13 and ended the game with four consecutive kills coming from Flurry and Sterling as the Cougars won 25-17 in the final set.

- The Cougars recorded 47 kills, 15 service aces, 43 assists, and 49 digs.
- Flurry recorded a team-leading 15 kills.
- Pastor and Williams each added 10 kills.
