HARTFORD, Conn. – The Clark men's swimming and diving team competed in their first meet of the 2024 portion of their schedule with a dual meet against Trinity and Saint Joe's (Ct.) on Saturday afternoon from the Trinity Natatorium. They topped St. Joe's and fell to Trinity.
How it Happened
- In the 200-yard medley relay, Michael Villalba, Alex Bielecki, Sam Bier, and Tyler Broderick finished fourth with a time of 1:53.53.
- Compton won the 100-yard butterfly event with a mark of 59.11 and later won the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 26.36.
- In the 50-yard freestyle, Broderick (23.87), Bradyn Potter (23.87), Evan Sucov (24.62), and Nick Cordell (25.33) finished second through fifth.
- Compton (28.62) and Declan Hanscom (30.77) finished second and fourth in the 50-yard backstroke,
- In the 50-yard breaststroke, Bielecki (29.84) and Jonathan Solomon (34.70) placed second and fourth.
- Villalba registered a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a mark of 1:00.81.
- In the 100-yard breaststroke, Bielecki (1:04.47) and Potter (1:09.31) recorded second and third-place finishes.
- Bier also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:14.00.
- Villalba (54.71) and Hanscom (55.84) finished third and fourth overall in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Cordell (1:56.22) and Bier (1:58.02) placed third and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.
- In the 100-yard individual medley, Broderick (57.59) and Villalba (1:02.54) finished third and fourth.
- The Cougars closed the day with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Compton, Hanscom, Bier, and Broderick with a time of 3:32.00.

The scarlet and white will return to the water on Saturday, January 27 when they welcome Brandeis to the Kneller for their senior day meet beginning at 1:00 p.m.
