Men's Tennis Drops Road Match at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – The Clark University men's tennis team (1-1) traveled to Gordon (1-1) for their second match of the season and dropped the match 6-1 from the Brigham Athletic Complex.

How it Happened

Doubles: Gordon 2, Clark 1
  • In number two doubles, first-year Ziad Tabbara and sophomore Drew Morris recorded a 6-2 victory over Vittal Harith and Carleton Riester.
  • Sophomore Edward Shepherd-Johnson and first-year Aris Kirkorian battled with Enric Porcar and Jeffrey Bodner in number one doubles and lost 4-6.
  • Senior Ryan Hovey and graduate student Tanner Honnef won three games in number three action, but fell 3-6 to Joshua Noel and Lucas Barnes.
Singles: Gordon 5, Clark 1
  • Junior Graham Russo recorded Clark's singles victory with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Gabriel Guzman in number six action.
  • Morris took Barnes three sets, falling 2-6 in the first, taking the second 6-2, and dropping the final set 2-6.
  • In number five singles, Hovey registered a 6-4 win in the first set, but fell 6-7 and 7-10 in the tiebreak to Harith.
  • Edward-Johnson battled with Porcar in number one play, but dropped the match 3-6, 6-7 in number one play.
  • Tabbara won the first set 7-6 and was trailing 1-4 in the second set before retiring with an injury in number three action against Pizzaro.
  • In number two play, Kirkorian lost his match 1-6, 3-6 to Bodner.
What's Next
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Colby for a non-conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m.
