NORTON, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer (4-11-2, 1-7-2 NEWMAC) played their final road match of the season when they traveled to Wheaton (8-4-6, 4-2-4 NEWMAC) and suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Lyons on Wednesday afternoon from Mirrione Stadium.
What Happened
- Senior Anabella White recorded a pair of saves over the first 12 minutes of action before the Cougars conceded a penalty kick and Ali Roche found the back of the net for the Lyons.
- First-year Selene Hammad serviced in a pair of corner kicks in the middle of the second half, with fellow first-year Camilla Daigle sending a header just high of goal.
- Lily Brown extended the Wheaton lead to 2-0 in the 33rd minute before Hammad recorded Clark's first shot on goal that was saved by Patricia Bandrup and Hammad fired another shot on goal in the 41st minute that was stopped by Bandrup.
- Gina Trovato scored for the Lyons in the 44th minute as Wheaton took a 3-0 edge into the half before Clark cut the deficit to two in the 48th minute when senior Isabella Ramirez serviced in a corner that found first-year Georgia Louis, with Louis putting the ball in the back of the net to make it a 3-1 contest.
- Hammad nearly pulled Clark within one with a shot in the 50th minute that was saved by Bandrup and first-year Lily Houle also fired a shot on goal that was stopped for a Cougar corner kick.
- White recorded a pair of saves later in the half and sophomore Sadie Cohen fired Clark's final shot of the half in the 84th minute that was stopped as Wheaton came away with a 3-1 victory.
