Men's Basketball Drops Road Game at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Clark University men's basketball team (1-2) traveled to Nichols (2-2) for their second of a three-game road trip and rallied in the second half, before coming up short in an 81-74 loss to the Bison on Monday night from the Nichols Athletic Center.

How it Happened
  • Clark jumped out to an early 7-2 lead as junior Reid Neumann hit a three-pointer, senior Kekoa McArdle and sophomore Quentin Pridgen also made layups.
  • Senior Ian Calabrese and first-year Kyle Squires each buried three-pointers in the middle of the half before senior Bruce Saintilus made a layup to put the Cougars up 17-15.
  • First-year Boluwasefe John hit a free throw to tie the game at 19-19 with 6:18 left in the first half before the Bison went on an 8-0 run.
  • Graduate student Jordan Richard hit a triple and buckets from Saintilus and McArdle right before the break as the Cougars trailed 42-27 at the half.
  • Saintilus scored Clark's first 13 points of the second half with a pair of three-pointers, a jumper, and five free throws as Nichols held a 51-40 edge.
  • Squires and Neumann combined to score the Cougars next eight points as Neumann hit a pair of threes and Squires hit a jumper before an and-one layup pulled Clark within eight at 59-51 with 8:07 to play.
  • Trailing 63-53, the Cougars scored seven unanswered as Squires hit a triple and Pridgen/Saintilus both hit layups as Clark pulled to within three at 63-60 with 6:21 remaining.
  • After four straight from Nichols, Squires and McArdle scored four unanswered and a jumper from Pridgen made it a 70-66 contest with under three minutes to play.
  • The Bison scored five unanswered before Richard buried a three-pointer to close the gap to six and a triple from Neumann with 0:35 remaining as Clark trailed 77-72.
  • Saintilus scored the Cougars final basket of the game with 0:11 to play as the scarlet and white dropped the game 81-74.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Cougars grabbed 52 rebounds, made 11 three-pointers, dished out 10 assists, and recorded eight steals.
  • Saintilus led the team with 22 points on eight made shots and grabbed six rebounds.
  • Pridgen recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 13 points.
  • Neumann (12) and Squires (10) also reached double-figures.
  • McArdle also pulled down 13 rebounds and added six points.
What's Next
Clark will close out a three-game road stint when they travel to Middlebury for a contest on Wednesday night beginning at 5:00 p.m.
