WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's swimming and diving team competed in the three days of the Gompei Invitational and placed 10th overall with a score of 701 from WPI.

How it Happened

• Samuel Bier competed in the B final of the 500-yard freestyle and finished seventh with a mark of 5:04.60, while later winning the C final of the 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 56.94 and swam in the A final of the 50-yard backstroke (26.56).
• Daniel Smith (5:13.26) and Nick Cordell (5:18.29) appeared in the C final in the 500-yard freestyle, placing sixth and ninth overall.
• Smith (25.36), Declan Hanscom (26.78), Rowan Compton (27.60), and Nick Cordell (28.55) all swam in the C final of the 50-yard butterfly.
• Theo Bayne swam in the B final of the 200-yard breaststroke and finished eighth with a mark of 2:22.14 and later placed second in the C final of the 50-yard breaststroke.
• Michael Villalba (1:00.18) placed sixth overall in the 100-yard backstroke, fourth in the 50-yard backstroke (28.79), and qualified for the final in the 200-yard backstroke.
• Bier (17:47.18) and Cordell (18:53.69) both competed in the 1650-freestyle final.
• Potter swam in the C final of the 100-yard IM and recorded a mark of 1:01.40.
• In the 200-yard medley relay, Bier, Bayne, Compton, and Smith clocked a time of 1:47.46.
• Villalba, Bradyn Potter, Joseph Genovesi, and Cordell recorded a mark of 1:52.12 in the 200-yard medley relay.
• Potter (23.90), Evan Sucov (24.44), Villalba (24.99), Genovesi (25.16), Hanscom (25.40), Daniel Neau (28.33), and Gabriel Graphia (28.42) all competed in the 50-yard freestyle preliminaries.
• In the 100-yard butterfly preliminaries, Smith (1:00.39), Hanscom (1:03.88), and Neau (1:15.56) all swam.
• Potter, Smith, Villalba, and Cordell clocked a time of 1:36.38 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
• In the 200-yard freestyle event, Cordell (1:55.76) and Smith (1:57.73) competed in the preliminaries.
• Bayne (1:06.69) and Potter (1:10.90) swam in the 100-yard breaststroke.
• In the 400-yard medley relay, Bier, Bayne, Smith, and Potter clocked a time of 3:54.50.
• Potter (53.45) Sucov (55.07), Powers (55.08), Hansom (55.79), Graphia (1:01.80), and Neau (1:04.73) all swam in the 100-yard freestyle.
• In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Bier, Potter, Smith, and Cordell recorded a time of 3:35.35.
