WORCESTER, Mass. – Clark men's basketball (17-6, 11-3 NEWMAC) traveled across town to WPI (18-4, 11-2 NEWMAC) and completed the season sweep of the Engineers as the Cougars came away with a thrilling 69-62 victory on Wednesday night from the Harrington Auditorium.
How it Happened
- Clark and WPI played to an early 6-6 tie as senior Mikey O'Brien, sophomore Reid Neumann, and junior Kekoa McArdle each scored and another McArdle layup with 14:16 to go in the first half made it a 9-8 game in favor of the Engineers.
- Junior Isaiah Taylor hit a triple to tie the game and a jumper from Neumann gave Clark a 13-11 advantage and a three-pointer from O'Brien kept the lead at two with 10:22 remaining in the half.
- After the Engineers regained the lead, Neumann hit a pair of three-pointers to give the Cougars a five-point lead, but WPI responded with 11 unanswered as the Engineers led 30-24.
- Junior Bruce Saintilus and Taylor scored five of the final six points of the half as WPI took a 31-29 edge into the locker room.
- Saintilus connected on an and-one right out of the half before Taylor and McArdle each scored as the Cougars held a 36-33 lead with 18:21 remaining.
- WPI regained the lead quickly after, but O'Brien, Neumann, and senior Jordan Richard each hit three's to give the scarlet and white a 42-37 edge.
- The Engineers rattled off seven straight points, first-year Christopher Clarke and Taylor both scored to give the Cougars the lead back and an O'Brien jumper with 9:19 to go made it a 48-46 in favor of Clark.
- Taylor, McArdle, Richard, and Neumann scored the team's next nine points as the Cougars took a 57-52 advantage with 5:35 remaining.
- McArdle netted Clark's next four points and a pair of Taylor free throws with 1:37 to play helped keep the Cougar lead at five at 63-58.
- After the Engineers got within three with 1:21 remaining, Saintilus earned a pair of free throws and connected on both to extend the lead back to 65-60 with 0:54 to go.
- WPI got back within three with 0:19 to play, but Richard pushed the advantage back to five at 67-62 and after a miss from the Engineers as well as two more made free throws from Taylor helped Clark come away with a 69-62 victory.

- The Cougars grabbed 35 rebounds, dished out seven assists, and went 14-16 from the free throw line.
- Taylor led the way with 17 points and added six rebounds.
- Neumann netted 14 points and connected on three triple's.
- McArdle also reached double-figures with 12 points and six rebounds.
- Saintilus pulled down a team-leading eight rebounds and added eight points.
