Softball Drops Games to Bethany and SUNY Potsdam

NAPLES, Fla. – The Clark University softball team (1-3) played a pair of games on Monday morning as the Cougars fell to Bethany and SUNY Potsdam. 

Game One: Bethany 6, Clark 2
  • Sophomore Keira Langus took the mound for Clark in game one and allowed no runs in the first and in the top of the second, sophomore Felicia Salvati singled and stole second before the Bison got out of the jam.
  • After Bethany took a 1-0 lead, first-year Charlise Quigley and senior Samantha Crowley singled in the top of the third, but neither came around to score.
  • In the top of the fourth, Clark took the lead as sophomore Madison Dillon scored on a wild pitch and Langus also scored on a wild pitch to go up 2-1.
  • Langus tossed a scoreless fourth inning before the Bison plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth and three runs in the bottom of the sixth to come away with a 6-2 victory.
Game Two: SUNY Potsdam 7, Clark 0
  • First-year Hannah Wagstaff made her collegiate debut on the mound and after allowing a run in the top of the first, struck out the final batter of the inning to get out of a jam.
  • Senior Rebecca Mauro singled through the right side in the bottom of the first and stole second before SUNY Potsdam got out of the inning.
  • Potsdam scored four runs over the next two innings to go up 7-0 and over the rest of the contest, first-year Jennifer Albano, Crowley, and sophomore Ella Traynor all reached base.
What's Next
The scarlet and white will compete tomorrow with games against Anna Maria at 11:00 a.m. and Rockford at 1:00 p.m.
