NAPLES, Fla. – The Clark University softball team (2-6) dropped a pair of games on Thursday to Penn State Altoona and North Central from Lee County Sports Complex.
Game One: Penn State Altoona 3, Clark 0
- Senior Rebecca Mauro recorded Clark's first hit of the game in the top of the first inning with a single, but was left on base and in the bottom of the first, Penn State Altoona scored a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead.
- After a scoreless second inning from sophomore Keira Langus, senior Samantha Crowley recorded the Cougars one hit of the inning with a single.
- Langus retired the side in order in the third and fourth innings and tossed a scoreless fifth before Clark put a pair of runners on base in the top of the sixth as sophomore Emelie Spencer and Mauro singled, but Penn State Altoona got out of the jam.
- The Cougars couldn't record a hit in the top of the seventh as they fell 3-0.
Game Two: North Central 11, Clark 9
- North Central jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the top of the first and in the bottom of the inning, Crowley and Mauro each reached base, but were unable to score.
- In the bottom of the third, Clark plated five runs as sophomore Felicia Salvati hit an RBI single, Crowley scored on a passed ball, sophomore Ella Traynor drove in Spence, Salvati scored in a passed ball, and Traynor scored on a ball hit by sophomore Madison Dillon as the Cougars led 5-4.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Salvati doubled to left and Traynor singled to drive in a pair of runs as Clark took a 7-4 lead.
- North Central plated seven runs in the top of the fifth to take an 11-7 lead and in the bottom of the seventh, first-year Charlise Quigley registered a two-RBI single as graduate student Reilly Bronson and Dillon scored, but Clark fell 11-9.

The Cougars will close out their Florida trip with games against North Central (9:00 a.m.) and Baruch (11:00 a.m.)
