Dube Tosses No Hitter as Softball Closes Spring Break With Wins Over North Central and Baruch

NAPLES, Fla. – The Clark University softball team (4-6) closed out their spring break trip in Florida with an 8-0 win over North Central and a 9-0 victory against Baruch on Friday from the Lee County Sports Complex.

First-year Megan Dube threw a no-hitter in game one against North Central.

Game One: Clark 8, North Central 0
  • Dube took the mound in the top of the first and after a pair of runners got on base the first-year got out the jam before senior Rebecca Mauro, sophomore Felicia Salvati, and sophomore Madison Dillon each recorded RBI's as Clark went up 3-0.
  • After a scoreless second inning from Dube, senior Samantha Crowley, first-year Charlise Quigley, and sophomore Emelie Spence all scored as the Cougars took a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
  • Graduate student Reilly Bronson scored off an error in the bottom of the third as the Cougars took a 7-0 edge.
  • Salvati recorded Clark's final RBI of the contest with a ground ball to third base as the Cougars came away with an 8-0 win in five innings.
Game Two: Clark 9, Baruch 0
  • Spence's double in the 1st inning drove in Crowley for an early lead of 1-0, before Felicia Salvati's single brought Spence home, increasing the Cougars edge to 2-0.
  • In the 2nd inning, sophomore Alyssa Briggs reached base on an error, allowing Bronson to score, extending Clark's lead to 3-0.
  • In the 6th inning, first-year Charlise Quigley single, coupled with sophomore Madison Dillon aggressive base running helped Clark take a 4-0 lead before Briggs drove in Quigley and Bronson, extending the lead further to 6-0.
  • Sophomore Ella Traynor's walk and Madison Dillon's groundout contributed to Clark's final runs, with Bronson's RBI single pushing the edge to 9-0.
  • Sophomore Keira Langus retired the first 20 batters of the game she faced before Baruch loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but were unable to score a run.
What's Next
Clark will return to the field on Saturday, March 23 when they host Regis for a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
