Men's Lacrosse Closes Out 2024 With 10-8 Comeback Win Over Emerson

BOSTON, Mass. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (5-10, 2-5 NEWMAC) traveled to Boston to take on Emerson (7-9, 2-5 NEWMAC) for their final game of the season and came away with a 10-8 come-from-behind win over the Lions on Saturday afternoon from Rotch Field.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars applied early pressure as junior Matt Wells and sophomore Brett Newman each had shots saved and on the defensive end, graduate student Dylan Harloff stopped a pair of shots.
  • After the Lions scored a goal, sophomores Thomas Michaud and Lucas Cuda each put shots on target that were saved.
  • Senior Patrick Liddy tied the game early in the second with a goal shortly after fellow senior Matthew Minkwitz had a pair of shots saved.
  • Emerson scored midway through the second quarter before Minkwitz tied the contest at 2-2 with a goal off a feed from Wells.
  • Wells then got on the board with a goal early in the third and after the Cougars trailed 5-3, Liddy and Wells each scored to tie the game at 5-5 with 6:00 remaining in the quarter.
  • Minkwitz netted Clark's sixth goal of the afternoon with less than thirty seconds to go in the third as the game was tied 6-6 going into the fourth.
  • After Emerson scored two of the first three goals of the fourth, with the Clark goal coming from Wells, the Cougars ended the game with three straight goals as Minkwitz scored twice and Wells added a goal as Clark came away with a 10-8 win.
