NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Clark University women's tennis team (0-1) traveled to UMass Dartmouth (4-0) for their season-opener and battled with the Corsairs before falling 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon from the UMass Dartmouth Tennis Courts.
Doubles: UMass Dartmouth 2, Clark 1
- Seniors Amy Marin and Emma Allen registered a 6-3 victory in number three doubles over Burgess and Adamiak.
- Junior Crisi Patel and first-year Amanda Keith won four games in number two action, but fell 4-6 to Gonzalez and Croce.
- In number one doubles, first-year Larkin Gardinier and junior Merielle Kane registered three games won before dropping the set 3-6 to Walters and Beltran.
Singles: UMass Dartmouth 3, Clark 3
- Keith recorded her first career singles victory in number three singles over Walters despite dropping the first set 2-6, Keith rallied to win the next two sets 6-2, 6-2.
- Sophomore Varvara Maltseva registered a convincing 6-3, 6-0 win in number five action over Burgess.
- Marin recorded Clark's final singles victory of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Adamiak.
- Gardinier battled across three sets in number one play, falling 2-6 in the first, taking the second set 6-4, before dropping the final set 4-6.
- Kane (1-6, 6-7) and Patel (5-7, 2-6) competed for the Cougars in number two and four singles respectively.
