WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's basketball team (8-6, 4-1 NEWMAC) welcomed Emerson (6-7, 1-3 NEWMAC) to the Kneller on Tuesday night and came away with convincing 81-62 victory over the Lions led by four players reaching double-digits.
How it Happened
- The Cougars jumped out to an early 12-6 lead sparked by five points from senior Bruce Saintilus, a made triple from graduate student Jordan Richard, and two points apiece from seniors Isaiah Taylor and Kekoa McArdle.
- Saintilus then hit three-pointers on back-to-back possessions before sophomore Quentin Pridgen combined to score Clark's next six points after that with three layups to give the Cougars a 24-14 edge with 9:44 to play in the first half.
- After Trevor Arico scored the contests next five points, Richard made a layup and dished out an assist on a three-pointer to junior Reid Neumann as the scarlet and white held a 30-24 lead.
- Over the final four minutes of the first half, Saintilus scored the Cougars final five points, capping it off with an and-one layup and Clark held the Lions to just one basket as the scarlet and white went into the break up 35-27.
- Emerson cut the deficit to three out of the half before the Cougars went on a 6-0 run led by baskets from first-year Boluwasefe John, Taylor, and sophomore Quentin Pridgen.
- Richard then connected on a three-pointer before Clark rattled off seven straight points as senior Ian Calabrese hit a triple and both Pridgen and Neumann scored as the Cougars held a 55-41 lead with 11:07 remaining.
- Neumann and Taylor combined for Clark's next nine points before a pair of Calabrese free throws pushed the lead to 66-46 with 7:31 to play.
- Emerson cut the deficit to 13 with 2:49 left in the contest, but Pridgen and Taylor each hit free throws and Neumann added six more points to his total as the Cougars came away with a convincing 81-62 victory.

- Clark grabbed 44 rebounds, made 27 shots, knocked down 17 free throws, shot 42.9 percent from the floor, dished out 16 assists, and forced 20 turnovers.
- Taylor led the way with 17 points and added seven rebounds.
