WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (1-14, 0-6 NEWMAC) traveled to Smith (13-7, 4-2 NEWMAC) and dropped the match 3-0 on Tuesday night from Ainsworth Gym.
Clark fell 14-25 in the first set, 3-25 in the second, and 10-25 in the final set to the Bears.
How it Happened
- The Cougars jumped out to an early 9-5 lead in the first set sparked by two kills from junior Harper Chinn and one from sophomore Isabella Alcott off a feed from senior Yumeng Liu before the Bears rattled off 14 of the next 15 points to take a 19-10 edge.
- Sophomore Abigail Venis and Liu each added points as the set ended as the Cougars dropped the set 14-25.
- In the second set, Chinn tallied a pair of kills in the second set off feeds from junior Julia Dopazo as the Cougars fell 3-25.
- In the third set, Clark trailed 4-6 despite a pair of Alcott kills before junior Katelyn Williams, graduate student Isabella Smith, and Venis all tallied kills as the Cougars trailed 7-10.
- Clark forced a ball handling error and a pair of attacking errors over the remainder of the set as the scarlet and white fell 10-25.
Inside the Box Score
- Clark recorded 11 kills, 11 assists, 32 digs, three service aces, and one block.
- Alcott led the team with four kills.
- Chinn added three kills and eight digs.
- Dopazo (6) and Harrington (2) led the squad in assists.
- Liu registered a team-high 10 digs.
