SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Clark University field hockey (10-9, 1-8 NEWMAC) closed out its season on the road against Springfield College (12-6, 6-3 NEWMAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Pride opened the scoring in the second quarter and pulled away late in the third to secure a 4-0 win.
How it Happened
- Just three and a half minutes in, the Pride registered the first shot on goal, but junior Rachel Reiter was there to make the save.
- Springfield generated two more shots in the first period, with one sailing narrowly wide and the other blocked, as the first quarter ended scoreless.

The Cougars got their first chance early in the second quarter when senior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia fired a shot on goal off a penalty corner that was saved away.

Reiter answered thirty seconds later with a huge one-on-one save to keep the game scoreless.

The Pride broke through with just over three minutes left in the half, as Sarah Healy slapped down a high ball into the bottom right corner of the cage to make it 1-0.

It would be the last shot of the half, as Springfield carried the lead into the break.

Springfield kept the pressure on to start the second half, but Reiter came up big again with another one-on-one save.

The Cougars added their second shot on goal of the game a few minutes later, as senior Alison Kopec created space and rifled a shot off the goalie.

With under five minutes left in the third, Springfield blew the game open—first with Hailey Gaydos scoring from the near side off a feed from Nicolette Morlock.

Just two minutes later, the Pride extended their lead to 3-0 on a two-on-none breakaway, as Gaydos' second goal slipped past despite Reiter getting a piece of it.

Both teams registered shots on goal early in the fourth, but both goalies made key saves to keep the score unchanged.

That changed when Rachel Simkewicz worked her way into the shooting circle and buried a shot into a small window to make it 4-0 Springfield.

Senior Morgan Brown put two shots on goal in the final minute but couldn't find the back of the cage, as the Pride secured the 4-0 win.
