Six in Double-Figures as Women's Basketball Tops Anna Maria 113-54 in Season Opener

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's basketball team (1-0) hosted their first game of the 2025-26 campaign when they welcomed Anna Maria (0-1) to the Kneller in the Worcester City Tournament and registered a convincing 113-54 victory on Friday night.

Clark and WPI will compete in the Worcester City Tournament Final for the fourth straight year, with WPI winning in 2022 and Clark prevailing in 2023 and 2024 in the previous finals.

How it Happened
  • The Cougars jumped out to an early 13-5 lead sparked five points from both junior Kailey Rios and sophomore Cyriah Coleman as well as three points from first-year Atiya Watson.
  • The scarlet and white netted the next eight points as junior Mia Mabanag tallied five points and Coleman connected on a pair of free throws to extend their edge to 21-5 with 4:22 to go in the first.
  • First-year Karilyn Perez-Guerrero then scored four points in a 0:20 second stretch, capped off with a layup off a feed from Watson and a jumper from Mabanag before the end of the quarter gave the scarlet and white a 32-11 lead.
  • After four quick points from Arianna Saldini and Arianna Gonzalez to open the second quarter, Coleman and Rios combined for Clark's next six points to extend their advantage to 38-17 with 6:28 to go in the period.
  • First-year Leilani Benson converted an and-one and junior Catherine Antwi buried a triple off a feed from Coleman before junior Bella Galatt connected on a three-pointer to give the Cougars a 51-23 edge.
  • Before the half, Galatt, senior Ashley Leighton, Mabanag, and Watson all scored, capped off by another Mabanag triple on the last possession of the quarter as Clark took a 61-27 lead into the locker room.
  • Junior Olivia Shipley and Rios opened the third quarter with four points and a triple from Coleman off a feed from junior Emma Drefs pushed the advantage to 68-31.
  • Senior Kiley Drezek then scored seven points over the next two minutes of action and Antwi added five more points before the end of the quarter to help Clark take an 86-42 edge into the fourth.
  • In the fourth quarter, Antwi, Rios, Coleman, Perez-Guerrero, Watson, Galatt, and Benson all scored as the Cougars registered a convincing 113-54 victory on Friday night.

  • Clark made 34 shots, grabbed 52 rebounds, dished out 26 assists, and forced 27 turnovers.
  • Coleman led the team with 21 points and six assists, while adding seven rebounds.
  • Benson tallied a double-double in her first career game with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Anwti added 14 points and connected on four triples.
  • Mabanag and Galatt each registered 13 points.
  • Rios also reached double-figures with 11 points and hit a pair of three-pointers.
