WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark men's swimming and diving team placed seventh overall at the 2025 NEWMAC Championships after completing the final day on Sunday from WPI. The Cougars scored a total of 220 points across the four days.
MIT won the NEWMAC's with a score of 1334. Coast Guard (1079), Springfield (717.5), Babson (704), Wheaton (601), and WPI (596.5) rounded out the field.
How it Happened
- In the 1650-yard freestyle event, sophomore Samuel Bier (17:40.81) and junior Nick Cordell (18:38.53) both competed.
- Sophomore Michael Villalba competed in the 200-yard backstroke preliminaries with a mark of 2:11.31.
- In the 100-yard freestyle, junior Daniel Smith (51.31), senior Evan Sucov (51.86), sophomore Declan Hanscom (54.50), and first-year Gabriel Graphia (57.26) swam in the qualifiers.
- First-year Theodore Bayne recorded a time of 2:17.72 in the 200-yard breaststroke,
- In the 200-yard butterfly, senior Rowan Compton (2:07.51) and sophomore Daniel Neau (2:52.67) competed.
- The Cougars closed out their season in the 400-yard freestyle relay as sophomore Samuel Bier, Cordell, Smith, and Sucov clocked a time of 3:26.81.
- Compton, Villalba, Hanscom, and sophomore Owen Powers also swam in the 400-yard freestyle relay and recorded a 3:31.78.
