Softball Drops Final Two Games of Spring Break to Eastern and Adrian

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Clark University softball team (6-4) closed out their spring break trip against Eastern (7-2) and Adrian (6-3) and dropped both contests from the Fortune Road Complex on Friday afternoon.

Game One: Eastern 8, Clark 2
  • Sophomore Megan Dube tossed a scoreless first inning before junior Felicia Salvati became Clark's first baserunner in the top of the second.
  • Eastern plated five runs in the bottom of the second and two runs in the bottom of the third before graduate student Rebecca Mauro, junior Brooke Buzzeo, and first-year Avery Della Piana each reached base, but Eastern got out of the inning.
  • Buzzeo singled through the right side in the top of the sixth that plated junior Emelie Spence to make it a 7-1 contest.
  • Junior Madison Dillon drove in Clark's final run of the game in the top of the seventh that brought home first-year Gricelda Castro as the Cougars fell 8-2.
Game Two: Adrian 7, Clark 0
  • Dube took the bump for the Cougars in game two and pitched a scoreless first before sophomore Charlise Quigley singled in the bottom of the inning.
  • Adrian took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second and Quigley recorded her second hit of the game with a double down the left field line in the bottom of the third.
  • After Adrian plated four runs in the top of the fourth, Castro, Mauro, and junior Erin Slavin each reached base as the Cougars dropped the game 7-0.
What's Next
Clark will return to the field on Saturday, March 22 when they host Regis in a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
