WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (11-12, 2-5 NEWMAC) was able to play one game of the doubleheader against Salve Regina (9-16, 4-5 NEWMAC) and were edged 2-1 by the Seahawks on Tuesday afternoon from O'Brien Field.
Game One: Salve Regina 2, Clark 1
- Sophomore Megan Dube allowed runners on second and third in the top of the first before forcing a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.
- Dube tossed a scoreless second inning before the Seahawks plated two runs in the top of the third as Emily Cronin recorded and RBI and Emily Lane scored on a passed ball.
- In the bottom of the fourth, graduate student Rebecca Mauro broke up the perfect game with a walk drawn, but was left on base.
- Dube continued to deal with scoreless fifth and sixth innings before sophomore Charlise Quigley and first-year Avery Dillon both drew walks and Mauro tallied an RBI single to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- Dube doubled to left field to open the seventh and was moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt from junior Felicia Salvati, but the Seahawks got out of the jam.
What's Next
The Cougars are attempting to secure a date to make up the second game against Salve Regina. Clark's next set of contests will be played on Friday afternoon at Emerson beginning at 3:00 p.m.
