WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's tennis team (7-10, 4-3 NEWMAC) earned the fourth seed in the NEWMAC Tournament with a convincing 7-0 victory over Emerson (8-11, 2-5 NEWMAC) on Friday in their senior day from the Corash Tennis Courts.

How it Happened
Doubles: Clark 2, Emerson 1
- In number two doubles, graduate student Tanner Honnef and Hovey battled with McAllister and Mesaros to a tiebreak and prevailed 7-6 (8-6).
- Junior Edward Shepherd-Johnson and sophomore Aris Kirkorian clinched Clark's first doubles win with a 6-3 victory against Leung and Nocchi in number one action.
- Ramirez and Hurtado competed in number three play and won three games before falling 3-6 to Sevikul and Leeves-Coben.
Singles: Clark 6, Emerson 0
- Junior Graham Russo blanked McAllister in number four singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
- First-year Ziad Tabbara took the first set 6-2 and closed out Sevikul 6-0 in the final set in number three action.
- Kirkorian (No. 2) and Honnef (No. 6) only dropped a combined three games as Kirkorian won 6-1, 6-2 and Honnef prevailed 6-0, 6-3.
- In number five action, Hovey battled to win the first set 7-5 and pulled away in the second with a 6-1 victory.
- Shepherd-Johnson (No. 1) battled Nocchi for three sets and took the first set 6-2, was bested 5-7 in the second, and won the tiebreak 10-8 in the third.
What's Next
The Cougars will begin the NEWMAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon when they welcome one of Coast Guard, Wheaton, or Emerson to Corash.
