Baseball Drops Late Week Game at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (22-12) traveled to Nichols (18-14) for their third game in four days and fell 11-8 to the Bison on Thursday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • Graduate student Sam Farrell scored off a wild pitch in the top of the first before senior Connor Schmautz pitched a scoreless first for the Cougars.
  • Schmautz set the Bison down in order in the second before Clark plated two runs as junior Dom Mariani and first-year Cole Camara recorded RBI's to push the lead to 3-0.
  • After two more scoreless innings from Schmautz, the Cougars added two more runs as junior Brayden Hollinrake hit a sacrifice fly and senior Tyler Jones roped an RBI double as Clark led 5-0.
  • Nichols plated nine runs in the fifth before Clark scored a run as junior Jake Faulkenham drove in a run in the seventh to make it a 9-6 contest.
  • Junior Michael Soares tossed a scoreless seventh before Clark pulled within one off a two-RBI double from Camara to pull within one at 9-8.
  • Nichols added two runs in the eight and the Bison retired the side in the ninth as they prevailed 11-8.

  • Camara drove in three runs and tallied two hits.
  • Mariani scored three runs, recorded two hits, and drove in a run.
  • Sullivan added three hits and two runs.
  • Soares tossed 2.2 scoreless innings.
What's Next
The scarlet and white will close out their week with a road game at Saint Joseph's beginning at 10:30 a.m. from Dunkin Park.
