Men's Lacrosse Registers 11-8 Victory Over Emerson on Senior Day

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's lacrosse team (9-6, 2-5 NEWMAC) closed out their 2025 season with an 11-8 victory over Emerson (2-12, 0-7 NEWMAC) on senior day on Saturday afternoon from Granger Field.

Seniors Alex D'Entrone, Griffin Robbins, Matt Wells, Ryan Kerr, Henry Fitzpatrick, Sean Braunwart, Harrison Leduc, and Mason Kaufmann were honored prior to the game for their contributions to the Clark men's lacrosse program.

How it Happened
  • Graduate student Attilio LaVecchia and sophomore Eric Aswad both fired shots on goal that were saved within the first three minutes of play and after Wells put a pair of shots on target that were stopped, Emerson's Jack Burns netted a goal to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Junior Lucas Cuda, LaVecchia, D'Entrone, and graduate student Matthew Minkwitz each created chances towards the end of the quarter that were saved as the Lions took a 2-0 edge into the second quarter.
  • Graduate student Casey McCullough tallied three saves to open the second before Emerson netted two more goals to push the lead to 4-0 and with 7:13 to play in the period, graduate student Patrick Liddy got Clark on the board with a goal.
  • Liddy then found a cutting Wells late in the second and Wells found the back of the cage as the Cougars trailed 4-2 entering the half.
  • Clark's offense blitzed the Lions out of the half as Minkwitz scored off a feed from sophomore Tate Gorman and Wells found the back of the cage off a Minkwitz pass as the Cougars tied the game at 4-4.
  • After Emerson netted a goal, Minkwitz, Liddy, and Wells all combined to score three straight goals with the assists going to sophomore Jason Shackley, D'Entrone, and Minwitz as the Cougars held a 7-5 lead.
  • Emerson scored a goal to close out the third, but Clark again netted three unanswered goals to open the fourth as junior Thomas Michaud, Minkwitz, and Kerr all scored to push the advantage to 10-6.
  • The Lions netted a pair of goals after to pull within two, but Robbins closed the door on Emerson with a goal off a feed from Wells and before the end of the game, graduate student Brennan Hare tallied a save in net as the Cougars prevailed 11-8.

  • Clark attempted 62 shots, won 18 faceoffs, converted 17 clears, scooped up 51 ground balls, and forced 19 turnovers.
  • Minkwitz ended his record-breaking season with 49 goals and 28 assists as he netted three goals today and dished out a pair of assists.
  • Wells also added three goals and two assists, to end his career with 72 goals and 44 assists.
  • Liddy recorded two goals and dished out an assist, closing out his career with 53 goals and 28 assists.
  • Robbins, Kerr, and Michaud netted goals, while D'Entrone, Gorman, Berman Annunziata, and Shackley dished out assists.
  • Sophomore Huy Doan and junior Patrick O'Rourke each won nine faceoffs and scooped up eight and seven ground balls respectively.
  • Graduate student Jason Tautel caused a pair of turnovers and ended his year with 38 and 81 for his career.
  • McCullough recorded nine saves and ends his career with 275 career saves.
