SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (14-20, 4-12 NEWMAC) traveled to Springfield (24-10, 11-5 NEWMAC) for a pair of games on Sunday afternoon and fell in both contests from Potter Field.
Game One: Springfield 8, Clark 0 (F/6)
- Graduate student Rebecca Mauro opened the game with a two-out double in the first before the Pride got out of the inning with a fly out to left field.
- Springfield plated three runs in the bottom of the first and two in the second before sophomore Charlise Quigley tallied Clark's second hit of the contest in the third, but was left on base.
- After another Springfield run in the third, first-year Merry Griffin singled to center and sophomore Megan Dube tossed a scoreless fourth.
- Dube set the Pride down in order in the fifth before Mauro singled in the sixth, but was caught stealing and Springfield ended the game with a two-RBI double in the sixth to record an 8-0 victory.
Game Two: Springfield 4, Clark 0
- Junior Brooke Buzzeo took the circle for Clark in game two and tossed a scoreless first before getting out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the second.
- First-years Avery Dillon and Abigail Venis each reached base in the first two innings, but were left on.
- Buzzeo set down the Pride in order in the third and in the top of the fourth, Dube singled to right field with two outs before Springfield forced the final out of the inning.
- Springfield plated their first run of the game in the fourth and had runners on first and second in the fifth before Buzzeo got out of the jam.
- The Pride added three runs in the bottom of the sixth and in the seventh, Mauro opened the inning with a double and was stranded on base as Springfield tallied a 4-0 win.

The Cougars will play their final home doubleheader of the year when they welcome Babson to O'Brien for a pair of games on Wednesday afternoon beginning at 12:00 p.m.
