Men’s Soccer Battle to Scoreless Draw vs No. 6 Babson

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University men's soccer team (2-4-3, 1-1-1 NEWMAC) hosted No. 6 Babson (6-1-2, 1-0-1 NEWMAC) on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The Cougars reached the back of the net in the first half, but an offside call negated the goal. The Beavers ramped up the pressure in the second half, but strong defense from Clark kept the game scoreless at the final horn.

How it Happened

  • The Cougars put two shots on goal in the opening 10 minutes, with first-year Ryan Hoffelder heading a ball on goal and sophomore Jacob Ordonez firing one on goal five minutes later.
  • Senior goalkeeper Jaime Pedraza made his first save in the 14th minute, adding a second save in the 31st minute.
  • Clark found the back of the net in the 35th minute, but the goal was negated by an offside call. Pedraza added a save in the 39th minute, with a late shot from first-year Jake DiOrio also being saved as the half ended scoreless.
  • Babson came out firing in the second half, with Pedraza making a pair of saves in the first 12 minutes of the half.
  • Pedraza came up clutch with two saves seven minutes later as the Beavers ramped up their attack.
  • Things came to a head in the final six minutes, as Pedraza made three critical saves to secure the shutout and the 0-0 draw for Clark.
