NEWPORT, R.I. – #6 Clark University Men's Basketball (12-13, 7-9 NEWMAC) trekked to #3 Salve Regina (18-7, 11-5) for the NEWMAC Quarterfinals. The Cougars battled for all forty minutes, but couldn't overcome a second half run by the Seahawks as Salve Regina secured a 67-61 win.

A dunk from sophomore Boluwasefe John got the scoring started for the Cougars, with John adding two more points before a three from sophomore Kyle Squires made it a 7-4 game with 14:32 remaining in the first half.

First-years Aliaun Iscandari and Elijah Small combined to score the next six points for Clark, pushing the lead to as many as eight.

The Seahawks slowly chipped away at the deficit, ultimately tying the game at 13 with 6:56 to play in the half before taking a 15-14 lead at the 6:02 mark.

A Squires triple put Clark back in front, and back-to-back layups by Iscandari added to the run before a three from senior Reid Neumann capped an 11-5 stretch, giving Clark a five-point advantage with 1:03 remaining.

Salve Regina knocked down two free throws in the final 20 seconds to enter halftime trailing 25-22.

A 7-0 run to open the second half put the Seahawks back in front, but Iscandari attacked the basket on three straight possessions to score six points and tie the game at 31 with 15:22 remaining.

After Salve Regina briefly retook the lead, a three from Squires and four straight points from junior Christopher Clarke sparked a 7-0 run that gave Clark a 38-33 advantage.

Clarke added two more points, and four from Iscandari helped keep the Cougars ahead 45-41 with 7:38 remaining.

The Seahawks responded with an 11-0 run to retake the lead, 52-45, with 5:00 left in regulation.

Iscandari stayed hot, scoring the next six points for Clark before finding Squires for a triple that cut the deficit to 58-54 with 2:05 to play.

Despite strong shot-making from the Seahawks, two more free throws from Iscandari and another three from Squires made it a one-possession game at 62-59 with 56 seconds remaining.

Salve Regina converted timely free throws down the stretch to secure a 67-61 win at home.

He finished the year averaging 18.6 points per game, including a 19.1 points-per-game average in NEWMAC play.

Neumann finishes his career with 1,036 points and 267 three-pointers, the third-most made threes in program history. He knocked down 81 triples this season, the fifth-best single-season mark in program history.
