BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark University baseball team (19-15, 5-8 NEWMAC) traveled to Babson (19-14, 8-5 NEWMAC) for a weekend doubleheader and dropped game one 8-0 before falling 9-5 in game two on Saturday afternoon from Govoni Field.
Game One: Babson 8, Clark 0
- Senior Dom Mariani singled up the middle in the top of the first and fellow senior Michael Soares added a single to left, but Jason Finkelstein got out of the jam.
- Babson scored two runs in the bottom of the first before sophomore Danny Goodman pitched a scoreless second.
- Sophomore Bennett Hewett was hit by pitch in the top of the third and in the bottom of the inning, the Beavers added another run.
- Fellow sophomore Cole Camara walked and stole second before senior Brayden Hollinrake drew a walk, but Babson got out of the inning again.
- Goodman set Babson down 1-2-3 in the fourth and conceded no runs in the fifth before the Beavers extended their lead to 4-0 in the sixth.
- First-year Luke Costello set the Beavers down in order in the seventh and Hewett singled in the eighth, but Babson plated four runs in the eighth as they prevailed 8-0.
Game Two: Babson 9, Clark 5
- Babson opened game two with a run in the bottom of the first before Clark answered with a run in the second as Camara tripled and came around to score on a ball hit by sophomore Myles Fournier to tie the game.
- Sophomore Robby Roth pitched a scoreless second before the Beavers added another run in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 4-1 advantage.
- Hollinrake singled in the fifth and was pinch ran for by sophomore Brad Anderola, but the Beavers were able to turn two to end the inning.
- Babson added another run in the fifth before junior Jacob Kline set the Beavers down in order in the bottom of the sixth.
- Ryan Liss homered for the Beavers before Jalil doubled and came around to score on a ball hit by junior Chas Caron as the Cougars made it a 7-2 game.
- Clark scored three runs in the top of the ninth as Soares roped a two-run homer to right center that also brought home Mariani and Camara homered as the Cougars fell 9-5.

The Cougars will return to the field on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Babson for a NEWMAC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
