BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Clark University softball team (15-18, 4-12 NEWMAC) traveled to Babson (17-18, 9-7 NEWMAC) for a conference doubleheader and fell 3-1 in game one and 6-0 in game two on Saturday afternoon from Alumni Field.
Game One: Babson 3, Clark 1
- Senior Emelie Spence drew a walk and sophomore Merry Griffin doubled to right center, but Anna Topel was able to get out of the jam before junior Megan Dube pitched a scoreless bottom half.
- Dube tossed a 1-2-3 second and third before she registered a hit of her own at the plate to left and reached second on a passed ball, but was left on base in the top of the fourth.
- The Beavers scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and in the bottom half of the inning, junior Alexis Taudel, sophomore Gricelda Castro, and Spence all reached base before Babson got out of the inning.
- Dube set the Beavers down in order in the fifth and in the sixth reached base on a walk.
- In the top of the seventh, sophomore Avery Dillon doubled to left center and was brought home off a base hit from Spence as Clark fell 3-1.
Game Two: Babson 6, Clark 0
- Spence drew a walk to open up game two and Griffin singled, but were left on base before senior Brooke Buzzeo tossed a scoreless first.
- Sophomore Avery Della Piana drew a walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from senior Felicia Salvati in the second before Buzzeo set the Beavers down in order in the second.
- Babson plated four runs in the third and two in the fourth and in the top of the sixth, Avery Dillon registered a single before the Beavers got out of the inning.
- In the top of the seventh, Dube singled and Della Piana drew a walk before Babson recorded the final three outs of the game to give them a 6-0 win.
What's Next
The scarlet and white will return to the field on Tuesday afternoon when they welcome Gordon to Worcester for a contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
