Women's Soccer Blanks Worcester State With 2-0 Victory

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Clark University women's soccer (3-1-0) traveled across town to Worcester State (0-3-0) and logged their first shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over the Lancers on Wednesday night from John Coughlin Field.

How it Happened
  • Sophomore Calabria Augustino switched play to junior Georgia Louis and Louis took a dribble to her right before putting the ball into the right corner of the goal to give Clark a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute.
  • Junior Madeleine Reeves attempted the next shot of the contest in the 31st minute as both defenses held the offenses without a shot for the previous 25 minutes of action.
  • Clark's offense created two more chances on goal before the half as junior Solimar Rivera and sophomore Kory Lloyd each had shots saved by Kylee Elliott as the Cougars took a 1-0 lead into the break.
  • Rivera pushed Clark's lead to 2-0 in the 49th minute as Lloyd found Louis on the left and Louis sent the ball across the box to Rivera, who found the back right corner of the goal.
  • In the 59th minute, Rivera nearly added her second goal of the evening, but Ella Gumienny came away with a save before senior Gabrielle Huryn tallied her first save in the 64th minute.
  • Louis created two more chances and junior Selene Hammad nearly added a third goal, but all three shots were saved and Clark posted their first shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory.

  • Louis tallied her third goal of the year and 17th as a Cougar, while adding her second helper and 15th career assist.
  • Rivera's goal was her third of the season and 10th of her career.

  • Senior Ava Lepro and Huryn combined for their first shutout of the year.
