Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets at Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – The Clark University volleyball team (3-4) traveled to Framingham State (5-3) for a non-conference contest and fell 3-0 in straight sets on Tuesday night from Logan Gym.

The Cougars fell 25-14 in the first set, were bested 25-19 in the second, and dropped the third 25-22.

How it Happened
  • Framingham State jumped out to a 10-5 lead despite kills from sophomore Ashlyn Moquin, junior Isabella Alcott, and first-year Cadence Martin and in the middle of the set senior Katelyn Williams added a kill off a feed from fellow senior Julia Dopazo.
  • Junior Hannah Harrington registered a service ace and both junior Abigail Venis and Williams closed the set with kills as the Cougars fell 25-14.
  • Clark took a 9-6 advantage to open the second set as Alcott and Moquin each registered kills and Martin/Venis combined for a block before the Rams rattled off five straight points.
  • The Cougars tied the set as Dopazo recorded a kill and Gakidis tallied both a block and kill as Clark was tied 13-13, but Framingham State rallied to take the set despite Moquin, Alcott, Williams, and Venis each adding kills as the Rams won 25-19.
  • Gakidis opened the third with a kill and a block before Framingham State jumped out to a 9-4 lead.
  • Clark rattled off four unanswered points in the set as Alcott and Venis each tallied kills and Gakidis registered another block to cut the deficit to 11-9.
  • The Cougars kept chipping away at the deficit as Williams added two more kills and a service ace before Alcott registered a kill off a feed from Dopazo to make it 17-15.
  • Moquin registered two more kills, Alcott/first-year Julia Crockett combined for a block and senior Harper Chinn tallied a service ace as the Cougars fell 25-22 in the deciding set.

  • Williams and Moquin each added five kills.
  • Dopazo (12) and Harrington (6) led the squad in assists.
