POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Clark University volleyball team (2-1) completed their three-game weekend against Vassar (2-1) and dropped the match 3-0 on Saturday morning from Kenyon Hall.
The Cougars fell 25-16 in the first set, 25-14 in the second set, and 25-9 in the final set.
How it Happened
- The scarlet and white jumped out to an early 5-4 lead as junior Isabella Alcott, senior Winifred Gakidis, and sophomore Ashlyn Moquin each registered kills before Moquin tallied her second kill of the set off a feed from senior Julia Dopazo to make it 6-5.
- Clark went up by as many as our in the middle of the set sparked by a combined block from both seniors Katelyn Williams and Winifred Gakidis before Vassar went on an 10-0 run as the Cougars trailed 18-11.
- Williams, Moquin, and Alcott all registered kills before the end of the set, while Gakidis tallied a service ace and junior Abigail Venis recorded a block as Clark fell 25-16.
- Gakidis opened the second set with a pair of kills, while Alcott and first-year Cadence Martin also added kills before a Williams kill off a feed from junior Hannah Harrington made it a 13-8 game in favor of the host.
- Alcott and Moquin combined for three kills over the remainder of the set as the Cougars dropped the set 25-14.
- In the third set, Venis, Alcott, Martin, and Gakidis all registered kills, while senior Harper Chinn, Dopazo and Harrington each tallied assists as they fell 25-9.
