Clark University Director of Athletics Trish Cronin announced on January 28, 2020 the appointment of Kate Kurzanski as the sixth field hockey coach in the program's history.

"I am thrilled to welcome Kate to the Clark athletics family as our head field hockey coach," Cronin said. "Kate has enjoyed great success as a coach and I'm excited for her to infuse that same passion and drive behind her duties at the University. She has an impeccable reputation in the field hockey community, and I know that our student-athletes will excel in competition, in the classroom, and in the community under her guidance."

Kurzanski comes to Clark from Williams College where she was an assistant coach over the last three seasons. While at Williams, Kurzanski handled recruiting duties, working prospect clinics and camps such as the Super Sixty and the Sue Caples Div. III Showcase.

Additionally, she assisted in the day-to-day planning of the program while working closely with goalkeepers. The Ephs saw their record improve each season with Kurzanski on the sidelines while making the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) semifinals each year.

The Buffalo, New York native spent five years as head coach of the U19 Western New York Whalers field hockey club, preparing elite high school student-athletes for the collegiate level. There, Kurzanski was responsible for organizing and executing individual player workouts, recruiting for the club program and assisting student-athletes with the college recruiting process.

Kurzanski played field hockey at Div. II Mercyhurst, earning a spot in the starting lineup as a first-year before an injury sidelined her. After that, she moved into an assistant coaching role with the Lakers under head coach Stacey Gaudette where she aided with the day-to-day duties.

Kate graduated Magna Cum Laude from Niagara University in 2016, earning a Master's in Business Administration. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Mercyhurst University in 2014 while graduating with Cum Laude honors.Â
