Worcester, Mass. - After having three straight
matches postponed due to inclement weather, the Clark University
men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to visiting Emerson
College on Thursday afternoon on Corash Tennis Courts.
The Lions took two of the three doubles matches by 8-6 scores as
the combinations of Ken Nikravesh/Morgan Crossley and Matt
Field/Mitch Lance knocked off the Cougar duos of Aaron Chin/Philip
Porter and Dan Hall/Bram Smith.
The teams then split the six singles matches, with Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) at No. 1, Dan Paradee
(Gardiner, Maine) at No. 4 and Nathan Maltais
(Seabrook, N.H.) all grabbing wins for Clark.
Meanwhile, Ken Nikravesh at No. 2, Dan Lapidus at No. 3 and Matt
Lowe at No. 6 all took home victories for Emerson. The win for Lowe
was a three-set battle with Marcus Abramson (Palm
Beach Gardens, Fla.) in which he lost the first set 7-5 before
taking the final two, 6-4, 6-1.
The Cougars are off until next week when they play matches on
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday beginning with a road
contest at Bridgewater State Monday. The Lions return to the courts
on Saturday when they visit Norwich.
