Worcester, Mass. - Visiting Springfield College
scored a goal 11 seconds into the game and never looked back,
racing to a 15-5 win over host Clark University in Pilgrim League
men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon on Granger Field.
The Pride extend their winning streak to six games with the win,
moving to 8-4 overall and 5-0 in league play, while the Cougars
slip to 6-5 and 2-2 in conference action.
Joe Heney registered a game-high four goals, while Austin Orsini
tallied three goals and a pair of assists.
After Shawn Roche (Centerport, N.Y.) tied the
game up at 1-1 less than four minutes in, Springfield scored nine
of the game's next ten goals to put the game away.
Clark's lone goal during that stretch was an unassisted score by
Roche, a goal that put him in a three-way tie for first on the
school's all-time scoring list with 178 points.
Chris Johnson (Amherst, Mass.) had two goals and
two assists for the Cougars, who got 15 saves in goal from
Andrew DeVito (Glastonbury, Conn.).
Clark, which will play two of their final three games of 2010 away
from Granger Field, returns to action on Saturday with a Pilgrim
League matchup with Wheaton, while the Pride hosts area rival
Western New England on Friday.
