Box Score Worcester, Mass. – Alex Wolfel's
goal in the 65 th minute was the match's lone tally and host
Worcester State knocked off crosstown rival Clark, 1-0 on Wednesday
afternoon on the Lancers' Turf Field.
The Cougars record slips to 4-4-1 while the Lancers'
improve to 3-7 overall.
Wolfel took a pass from Eduardo Cazares and beat Clark keeper
Ryan King (Brimfield, Mass.) on a shot from ten
yards out.
The Scarlet and White held an 11-6 advantage in shots, including
an 8-4 edge in the final 45 minutes.
King turned back three shots for the Cougars, while Worcester
State's Evan Wilga made four stops for his third shutout of
the season.
Clark returns to the field on Saturday when they face Wheaton
for the first time since the two teams met in NEWMAC Semifinals
last season. The Lyons won that contest in the final ten seconds of
double overtime.
