Box Score Dudley, Mass. – Senior Mark Capitanio had
a hand in both Nichols College goals and the host Bison posted a
2-0 shutout win over visiting Clark University in men's
soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss for the Cougars snapped their season-opening three game
winning streak and the win for Nichols is their first of the
season.
After a scoreless first half, the Bison finally got the
match's first tally when Capitanio served in a corner kick
that Pat Gaumond buried for a 1-0 lead.
Nichols controlled the second half registering 17 shots and six
corner kicks respectively, compared to the Cougars, who mustered
just six shots and a pair of corner kicks in the final 45
minutes.
That 1-0 advantage looked to be the difference until Capitanio
scored from midfield with ten seconds left in the game to make the
score 2-0.
Ryan King (Brimfield, Mass.) made a season-high
nine saves for Clark, while Brendan Hamilton recorded four stops
for the Bison.
Clark looks to return to the win column on Saturday when they
visit Brandeis beginning at 6:00 p.m.
