Clark Tops Beavers, 6-3

Worcester, Mass. – Host Clark University extended its winning streak to five matches with a 6-3 win over visiting Babson College on Saturday afternoon in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's tennis action at Corash Tennis Courts.

Clark improves to 14-2 overall with the win, finishing their six-match home stand with a 5-1 mark. Babson, meanwhile, dips to 4-10, including a 1-3 ledger in conference action.

The Cougars opened the match, taking two of the three doubles matches, highlighted by Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) and Zack Goodstein (Columbus, Ohio) collecting an 8-4 win at No. 1 over Ramone Doyley (Kingston, Jamaica) and Danny Schneider (Littleton, Mass.).

No. 3 doubles, proved to be the match of the day, with the Beavers' combination of Nissam Cohen-Sabban (Chula Vista, Calif.) and Hubert Cromback (Cambridge, Mass.) winning the match via the tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-4).

Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.) teamed up with Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) at No. 2 doubles to take down Babson's Roy Murdock (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Zack Ringer (Minnetonka, Minn.), 9-7.

The Beavers picked up wins at No. 3 singles, as Murdock defeated Goodstein in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 and then Cromback posted a three set win at No. 5 over Dan Paradee (Gardiner, Maine), 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

Angel won again at No. 1 singles, knocking off Doyley, 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 and Stein was victorious at No. 2 over Cohen-Sabban, 6-2, 6-4.

The other two Cougar wins came at No. 4 as Burger won in straight sets over Schneider, 6-3, 6-2 and Joel Simonson (Waterford, Conn.) bested Ringer, 6-2, 6-2.

Clark will return to the courts on Wednesday when they visit Bridgewater State, while the Beavers host Suffolk on Tuesday.
