Box Score Springfield, Mass. – 19th-ranked Springfield College extended its Pilgrim League winning streak to 29 straight games with a resounding 16-3 win over visiting Clark University on Wednesday evening at Amos Alonzo Staff Field.
The Pride, who improve to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in league action, scored the game's first eight goals and never looked back in handing the Cougars their second 16-3 loss in the last seven days.
Mike Delia scored five goals to lead the Springfield offensive attack, while Ryon Lynch added three of his own. The Pride controlled play from the outset, eventually outshooting Clark 57-17 and winning 16 of 22 faceoffs.
Down 8-0 midway through the second quarter, the Cougars finally got on the board with a Thomas Lynch (Auburn, Maine) marker with help from Keegan Callahan (Tewksbury, Mass.).
Trailing 9-1 to begin the second half, Clark made a push getting unassisted tallies from Jeffrey Wasson (Buckhorn, Ontario) and Chris Johnson (Amherst, Mass.), but the Pride reeled off six straight goals to end the quarter and put the game away.
The Cougars, now 6-6 overall and 2-2 in league action, are off until next Wednesday when they host Babson at 7:00 p.m.
