Cougars Keep Rollin' With 8-1 Win Over Bears

Bridgewater, Mass. – Visiting Clark University extended its winning streak to six matches with an impressive 8-1 win over host Bridgewater State on Wednesday afternoon at Rosen Memorial Courts.

The Cougars improve to 15-2 with the win, while the Bears now sit at 7-4.

Clark swept through the singles matches, highlighted by Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) posting a 6-4, 6-1 win over Wesley Esthimer at No. 1.

Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) went to a tiebreaker in the first set before dispatching BSU's Sean Bleau at No. 3 by scores of 7-6 (8-6) and 6-1.

Dan Hall (Sutton, Mass.) breezed past Colin Fontaine, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6, while Joel Simonson (Waterford, Conn.) had an easy time with Cody Farrell, 6-1, 6-1.

The Cougars other victories came at No. 2 behind Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.), who collected a 6-3, 6-2 win over Mike Zagame and Dan Paradee (Gardiner, Maine), posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jesse Gotlib.

Bridgewater State's lone win came at No. 1 doubles, where Esthimer and Zagame knocked off Angel and Zack Goodstein (Columbus, Ohio), 8-4.

Clark is now off until Monday when they host Endicott College at 3:30 p.m.
