NEW LONDON, CONN.-- Coast Guard won five of the six singles matches and swept the doubles matches to beat Clark 8-1 in the final New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match of the season.

The Bears clinched the second seed in this weekend's NEWMAC tournament improving to 11-6 overall and finishing 4-1 in conference play. Clark is 15-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference finishing third. The Bears and Cougars will meet once again on Saturday in the NEWMAC tournament semifinals at 3 p.m. at MIT.

Josh Fischer won 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 at #2 singles, Nick Martin won 6-1, 6-2 at #3, Blake Maurer was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at # 4 singles while Matt Faha won 6-1, 2-6, 12-10 at #5 and Jon Lightner was a 5-7, 6-2, 10-4 winner at #6 singles for the Bears.
