Paxton, Mass. – Junior Nathan Buck (Portland, Maine) turned in a second place finish to lead a Clark University contingent that finished third overall as the 40th Worcester City Meet Championship at Moore State Park on Saturday morning.
Buck crossed the line in a time of 27:37, behind Assumption College sophomore Tony Fierimonte (Northboro, Mass.) who claimed the individual title.
WPI sophomore Andrew Zayac's had a third-place finish with a time of 27:38, helping the Engineers capture their 18th consecutive crown since the race first started in 1967.
Fitchburg State notched 87 points for fourth and hosting Worcester State placed fifth (127).
Clark freshman John Allard (Smithfield, Mass.) impressed as the top rookie finisher in eighth (28:15), while graduate student Joseph Kennelly (New Windsor, N.Y.) completed the five-mile course in 18th place with a time of 28:53, while freshman Will Walker (Falmouth, Maine) was 26th (31:17).
Junior Pat Daley had the best time in 27th (30:02) for Worcester State and first-year Nick Pervato placed 30th (30:31) for Holyoke Community College.
Clark will return to action on October 6 when they take part in the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State.
