Everybody Wins In 9-0 Victory At Salve Regina

Worcester, Mass. – Visiting Clark University wrapped up the fall portion of their 2013 season with an impressive 9-0 win over Salve Regina in non-league men's tennis action on Sunday morning at the Leroy Street Courts.

The Cougars move to 3-1 on the season and have now won 16 straight matches against non-conference Division III opponents. SRU, meanwhile, has dropped three straight dating back to their final two matches of the 2012 season.

Clark opened up the afternoon winning 23 of the 24 doubles points as the combinations of Dan Hall (Sutton, Mass.) and Harris Rollinger (Lexington, Mass.) at No. 2 and Scott Cabell (West Hartford, Conn.) and Phillip Porter (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) at No. 3 posted 8-0 wins. Diego Angel (Lima, Peru) and Fernando Pinoargote (Guayaquil, Ecuador) ended up taking down Colin Gunning and Aaron Isch in almost similar fashion, collecting an 8-1 win at No. 1.

Freshman Antoine Martin (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) improved to 4-0 in his young career, posting an easy 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Gunning, while Pinoargote clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 triumph over Monaf Awwa at No. 4.

Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) collected a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3, then Joel Simonson (Waterford, Conn.) upended Ken McCormack 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.

Spencer Brightman (Sudbury, Mass.) notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over James Diamantopoulos at No. 6 and then Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.), laying at No. 1 singles for just the third time in his career, outlasted Isch 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 to complete the sweep.
