Cougars Shut Out By Nichols, 3-0

Box Score

Dudley, Mass. – Host Nichols College scored three second half goals, including a pair from freshman Donny Whittle (Ellington, Conn.) less than six minutes apart, posting a convincing 3-0 non-conference win over Clark University in non-league men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bison pick up their first win of the season (1-2) after having suffered back-to-back 3-1 losses at the Xara Soccer Classic.

Clark, meanwhile, slips to 1-2 overall in advance of Saturday's meeting with No. 23 Brandeis University.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes, Nichols cracked the scoreboard with Whittle's first marker of the contest at 47:45.

Less than five minutes later, Whittle was at it again, taking a pass from Scott Coderre (Thompson, Conn.) and depositing his third goal of the season into the back of the net.

Christian Cole (Gaithersburg, Md.) and Michael Perry (Plainville, Mass.) put the game out of reach in the 82nd minute when they teamed up for Perry's first of the year.

The Bison held a 15-9 edge in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks. Nichols netminder Alex Geas (Somers, Conn.) needed to make just three saves to record his first shutout of the year. Cougar backstop Ryan King (Brimfield, Mass.) made two saves for Clark.
