Skyhawks Top Cougars, 8-1

Easton, Mass. – Stonehill College, one of New England's premier Division II teams dealt Clark University an 8-1 defeat on Wednesday afternoon in non-league men's tennis action at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts.

The win for the Skyhawks sends their Fall record to 4-0 while the Cougars are now 2-2 with two matches left on their own Fall slate.

Clark's lone victory came at No. 1 doubles where Fernando Pinoargote (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and Spencer Pinkney (Falmouth, Mass.) posted an 8-3 win over Tom Alaimo and Eric Ringstad.

From there it was all Stonehill beginning with Thomas Bello and Nikolay Lisichenok defeating Zack Goodstein (Columbus, Ohio) and Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) and Jon Sanders and Jeffrey Gagnon topping Lenny Siegel (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Miguel Espada (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) 8-3 each at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.

The Cougars had two matches go into tiebreakers beginning with Burger dropping a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) decision to Philip Klados at No. 4 and Joel Simonson (Waterford, Conn.) falling in a three set affair to Lisichenok at No. 6, 7-5, 2-6, 5-10.

Clark will return to action next Wednesday when they play host to Endicott College. First serve is slated for 4:00 p.m.
