Box Score 2 Cape Coral, Fla. – Clark University wrapped up its stay in Florida with a pair of setbacks, dropping an 8-0 decision to Dominican University and then a 10-1 verdict to the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
The Cougars wrap up their trip with a 4-6 record and won't play again until Tuesday, March 18 against Worcester city rival, Becker College.
In the day's first game, Clark was handcuffed by Stars' hurler Hayley Locher who only allowed three hits – two of which came in the first inning.
After getting single runs in the first and third off of Cougar starter Hayley Buckheit (Camden Hills, Maine), Dominican got two in the fourth on a two-run blast by Kimberley Giannini and four more in the fifth, including an RBI single from Giannini.
Clark's three hits came courtesy of Buckheit in the fifth and Lauren Mackey (Dublin, N.H.) and Alyssa Wright (Manchester, N.H.) in the first.
Game two saw the bottom of the Milwaukee School of Engineering lineup do most of the damage with number nine hitter Kailey Smith driving in four runs on a double and a triple.
Meanwhile, Julie Windish was 3-for-3 with three runs scored for the Raiders, who also got two hits and an RBI from Sara McConnell.
The Cougars struggled again at the plate, only getting three hits and they committed five errors. Mackey, Corrie Derosier (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Rachel Kraytenberg (Londonderry, N.H.) had hits for Clark.
