Bristol, R.I. – Clark University wrapped up its 2014 regular season with a 6-3 loss at Roger Williams on Monday afternoon.
The Cougars will now have five days off until their NEWMAC Tournament semifinal showdown on Saturday with Babson.
At #1 doubles were Taylor Webster (Bristol, Conn.) and Ryan Swanson (West Newbury, Mass.) who claimed the 8-4 victory over Dan Stein (Newton, Mass.) and Zack Goodstein (Columbus, Ohio).
Zack Bussiere (Colchester, Conn.) and Eric Laboissonniere (Cumberland, R.I.) won 8-6 in a matchup against Antoine Martin (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) and Fernando Pinoargote (Guayaquil, Ecuador) at #2 doubles, while Jonah Schwartz (Orange, Conn.) and Eric Bott (Bethel, Conn.) also came away with a win, defeating Spencer Brightman (Sudbury, Mass.) and Josh Burger (Fairfield, Conn.) 8-3 at #3.
Singles were a 3-3 split for Roger Williams and Clark - with Stein coming away with the win at the #1 spot for Clark taking the first set 7-5 and the next 6-3 against Bussiere.
Laboissonniere picked up the win for RWU in the #2 seed against Martin at 6-3 and 6-2, while Webster battled to defeat Pinoargote 7-6 and 6-4 at the #3 spot.
Kyle Bull (Pleasantville, N.Y.) picked up the final win in singles for the Hawks at #5, after coming back from a 5-7 loss against Joel Simonson (Waterford, Conn.) only to win 6-3 and 6-3 again in the next two sets.
Goodstein and Burger got the other two singles wins for Clark at the #4 and #6 spots winning 6-1, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-0 respectively.
Roger Williams (12-4) has their final regular season match against Coast Guard tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
