Box Score Wenham, Mass.— Goals in the second half by Caleb Cole (Coatesville, Pa.) and Evan Crocker (Akron, Ohio) snapped a scoreless match and host Gordon College posted a 2-0 win over Clark University in non-league men's soccer action on Wednesday evening.
The win for the Fighting Scots sends their record to a perfect 6-0, while the Cougars not sit at 3-4.
After a scoreless first half, Gordon finally broke through in the opening minutes of the second stanza as Cole split a pair of defenders just outside the 18-yard box on the left side and found the back of the net at 49:30.
In the 60th minute Crocker made it 2-0 with a nifty goal along the goal line. Crocker saved a feed from going out, spun the ball past his marker and took a touch toward the net. The senior midfielder got enough clearance from his defender to send a line drive past Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) for the insurance goal.
Gordon controlled the stat sheet, posting a 22-4 advantage in total shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Cougars got another stellar effort in net from Maguire who turned back ten shots – the second most saves of his career.
