Waterford, Conn. – With a plethora of nationally ranked teams and host of conference teams they will see in the upcoming New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship, the Clark University men's cross country team fared very well at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday morning at Harkness State Park.
The Cougars were paced by Alex Hull (Mount Laurel, N.J.), who turned in a time of 27:07 over the 8K layout, while John Allard (Smithfield, R.I.) was the next Clark participant to cross the finish line at 27:23.
MIT, ranked No. 12 in the most recent national poll, claimed the team championship with all five of their scoring runners finishing in the top 15.
Carelton College senior Hart Hornor blazed his way to the individual crown with a time of 24:32 – more than 30 seconds ahead of second place finisher Ben Bosworth of Connecticut College (25:03).
Rhys Duquette (Holyoke, Mass.) was the third Cougar to wrap up the course, crossing the tape in 28:13, while Seamus O'Connor (28:22) and Ryan Van Dine (28:47) completed the Clark scoring contingent.
The Scarlet and White are off until next Saturday when they take part in the Plansky Invitational hosted by Williams College.
