Waterford, Conn. – In a field littered with regionally and nationally ranked teams, the Clark University women's cross country team held its own, turning in a 16th place finish at the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness State Park on Saturday afternoon.
Maddy Doyle (South Berwick, Maine) continued the impressive start to her inaugural campaign, blazing her way to the second fastest time in school history in a 6K event at 23:47.
She was followed by Kristen Glennie (Standish, Maine), who completed the course layout in 24:10, while Liza French (Middleborough, Mass.) was next to finish, churning out a time of 24:58.
MIT, the nation's fourth ranked team claimed the overall team title with four of their five scoring runners finishing in the top 15 including individual champion, Maryann Gong who chewed up the course in just 21:31.
The Scarlet and White's final two runners – Rachel Donnelly-Cokinos (Monsey, N.Y.) and Emily Monahan-Morang (Freeport, Maine) finished less than a minute apart at 25:45 and 26:26, respectively.
Clark is off until next Saturday when they take part in the Plansky Invitational hosted by Williams College.
