Worcester, Mass. – Visiting Wheaton College scored the game's first three goals and never looked back en route to a 3-1 win over Clark University in New England Women's And Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

The win for the Lyons sends their overall record to 11-7 but more importantly they vault to 5-2 in conference contests and are now locked in as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament which begins on Wednesday.

For Clark, meanwhile, they see their 2015 season come to an end at 6-10-1 overall.

The Lyons, who have defeated the Cougars nine straight times dating back to 2008, got on the board in the 15th minute when Amara Sesay (Bronx, N.Y.) scored off of an excellent feed from freshman Ian Fromhein (Osterville, Mass.).

That lead doubled less than ten minutes later when Sean Hurlburt (Kingston, Mass.) connected with Pat O'Rourke (Hingham, Mass.) for O'Rourke's second marker of the year at 22:06.

Wheaton bumped their lead to 3-0 when Kevin Gil (Pawtucket, R.I.) converted a penalty kick at 45:49.

Clark avoided the shutout with some fantastic passing in the 81st minute. The program's two seniors – Kyle Russo (Westford, Mass.) and Zeke Farrell (Cranston, R.I.) teamed up to help Jack Stark (Abington, Mass.) notch his first collegiate goal at 80:10.

Wheaton held a slim 21-19 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.

James Bailey (Groton, Mass.) made seven saves in net for the Lyons, while Clark netminder - Bailey's former high school teammate - Connor Maguire (Dunstable, Mass.) made eight stops of his own.
