Clark Swept By Kenyon, Wartburg

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Cape Coral, Fla. – Clark University ran into a pair of strong pitching performances and the Cougars were swept by Kenyon College and Wartburg College on Monday morning at the Century Link Sports Complex.

In the opener against Kenyon, Sylvie Thomas was in total control in the circle, allowing just six hits while striking out three in the 11-3 win.

Jane Ghubikian, Chelsey Delaney and Maddy Stark all had three hits as Kenyon pounded out 16 on the afternoon.

The Cougars were down 11-0 heading into the seventh before plating three unearned runs. All six of Clark's hits were singles. Rachel Kraytenberg (Londonderry, N.H.) had the Scarlet and White's lone RBI with her single in the seventh.

In the nightcap against Wartburg, Knight's hurler Paige Blom was even more effective against the Cougars than Kenyon's Thomas. Blom twirled a six-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 while walking just two.

Wartburg pounded out 11 hits on the afternoon with seven of their nine starts getting one hit. Katie Wyman was the big bopper for the Knights, driving in a game-best three runs.

Clark will look to return to the win column on Tuesday with a pair of games against Saint John Fisher and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
